"My house shall be called a house of prayer for all the nations." Mark 11:17.
In these words, our Lord Jesus Christ is referencing the words of His Holy Father, as recorded in Isaiah 56:7.
"these I will bring to my holy mountain
and give them joy in my house of prayer.
Their burnt offerings and sacrifices
will be accepted on my altar;
for my house will be called
a house of prayer for all nations.”
Besides bringing us a tidal wave of pumpkin lattes, pumpkin air fresheners, pumpkin donuts, and a myriad of pumpkin uses, September 2017 also brings the start of our new prayer ministry to Shepherd of the Hills. A prayer corner is now available to all SOTH members in the nursery room. A bulletin board has been posted for your prayer requests, and if you would like to share and encourage your fellow Christians, another board is available for your answered prayers. Cards are available for your use or you can write your requests on your own paper. Any SOTH member is invited to pray the requests posted any time the church building is open.
Additionally, an informal small group prayer will be held every Sunday morning from 9:00am to approximately 9:20am. Every Sunday a new prayer topic will be introduced and included in that morning’s prayers to teach people to pray more effectively. If you would like to take part, just go to the prayer corner before the start of services and join the ongoing prayers.
Prayer guidelines: When posting your prayer request, please put your name, the date, the amount of time you would like your request prayed over, sufficient details to assist us in praying for you, and whether you are a SOTH member or not. If the request is for a non-SOTH member, please post an email address for the prayer ministry to contact the requester. This will enable those who are praying for you to determine how long to pray and when your prayer has been answered so that we can offer a prayer of thanksgiving.
The prayer ministry is loosely based upon the book: The Battle Plan for Prayer: From Basic Training to Targeted Strategies by Stephen and Alex Kendrick, the producers of the movie War Room. The long term goal of the ministry includes collecting the answered prayers as they fill up the boards and mount them as permanent collages around SOTH as a living testament to God’s grace. Additional long term goals include developing a prayer wall for SOTH’s website and creating weekly prayer request sheets that members can take home and pray over in the comfort of their own home.
