The Wisconsin Evangelical Lutheran Synod (WELS) is a North American Confessional Lutheran denomination of Christianity. Characterized as theologically conservative, it was founded in 1850 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. As of 2015, it has 1,269 churches, with members in 47 US states and 4 provinces of Canada. The WELS school system is the fourth largest private school system in the United States. As of 2012, WELS churches and associations operate 406 early childhood centers, 334 elementary schools, 23 high schools, 2 colleges and 1 seminary across the nation, enrolling over 41,000 students. WELS maintains four schools of biblical education: two college preparatory schools Michigan Lutheran Seminary and Luther Preparatory School; a pre-seminary and teacher training college, Martin Luther College in New Ulm, Minnesota; and a seminary, Wisconsin Lutheran Seminary, located in Mequon, Wisconsin. Wisconsin Lutheran College, a liberal arts college in Milwaukee, is affiliated with, though not run by, the WELS.

Christ Academy - WELS Spanish Language Resources
Christ Academy offers free Spanish video and audio resources that share the gospel message and teach lessons on Christianity and the Bible. The two most popular downloads are Spanish versions of the recent WELS movies Come Follow Me and My Son, My Savior. National pastors and missionaries are online for live chats with those visiting the site.
Christ Lutheran Church enables people to participate in live-streamed Christ-centered worship, prepared especially for the online viewer. Visitors can also download resources such as liturgies and hymns for their own use.
The Confessional Evangelical Lutheran Church in Colombia has taken the lead on this project, broadcasting the services from Most Holy Trinity in Medellín. Spanish speakers from ten different countries have gone through instruction classes and joined Most Holy Trinity.
Christ Word of Life serves as a digital newsletter for Spanish-speakers. Meant mainly for those already in our fellowship, the site contains daily audio devotions, Christian resources in Spanish, and news about confessional Lutheranism. |

Freedom for the Captives seeks to empower the Christian community to respond with excellence to the sin of child abuse. To this end, we provide resources to pastors, teachers, and lay Christians that will deepen their understanding of child abuse and improve the Christian response to the physical, emotional and spiritual impact of maltreatment. We also have resources for survivors including recommended readings and guidance in selecting counseling or other services.

The men and women of the Conquerors Through Christ team are members of a subcommittee of the Committee on Mental Health Needs under the Commission on Special Ministries, Wisconsin Evangelical Lutheran Synod (WELS). We have pastors, staff ministers, and laypeople serving on the subcommittee. We are pursuing this fight against internet pornography because we have seen the devastation it wreaks on the families and individuals in our churches and realize the danger to souls. We want to equip as many as possible to fight this battle with the proper motivation and preparation.

WELS Prison Ministries reaches inmates all over the United States with the message of Christ’s love and forgiveness. Below is a sampling of stories about the work being done for God’s Kingdom. Read them to get inspired and to learn how every soul is soul that Jesus died for.
Our mission is to bring the gospel of Jesus Christ to people who are serving time in jails and prison. We provide Bible correspondence courses, Bibles, and other printed spiritual materials for inmates free of charge. We also provide leadership training for lay Christians and pastors who are interested in beginning or expanding a jail or prison ministry.

Northwestern Publishing House (NPH) is the official publishing house for the Wisconsin Evangelical Lutheran Synod. Located in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, it produces a wide variety of materials including curriculum, periodicals, books, and worship resources. the publications are mainly for use of churches, schools, pastors, and members of the WELS. Its retail store, NPH Christian Books and Gifts, is also located in Milwaukee. It is devoted to publishing Christian literature and WELS related religious materials, as well as several WELS periodicals. NPH is best known for its critically acclaimed People's Bible Commentary series which features 44 books that explore, translate, and explain bible history.
